KEYNOTE
Toussaint Romain is a public defender for the City of Charlotte and a Professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is a key figure in the Queen City, a civil rights leader, and was a peace-keeper during the events that occurred in Charlotte, following the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in September of 2016. Toussaint made national headlines when he used his body as a physical barrier between the demonstrators and the police, in order to deescalate the situation. We are excited to hear his take on the current state of affairs in Charlotte and where we go from here as a community.
